self-catering accommodation, bed and breakfast, newholm whitby

About the location

The cottages lie close to the sea, and are near to both the lovely village of Sandsend, with its child-friendly beach, and the historic and picturesque harbour town of Whitby.

Further along the coast are Robin Hood’s Bay and Staithes, and the broad and sandy beach of Runswick Bay. The Cleveland Way follows the coastline, and, inland, the North York Moors is a must for walkers (and dogs!).

Among the many attractive villages in the area is Goathland, of ‘Heartbeat’ fame. The steam railway runs between Grosmont and the market town of Pickering.

Directions from the South
Take the A169 from Pickering to Whitby. At the roundabout, turn left towards Guisborough (the A171) for about a quarter of a mile, and then turn first right (avoid the entrance to a farm beforehand!).

Follow the road right through Newholm, towards Sandsend.  After leaving the village, Graystone Farm is the first group of buildings, on the left-hand side, the entrance to the courtyard being on a bend. The Hayloft and Grain Cottage (and the Farmhouse) face onto this courtyard.

Public Transport
There is a rail link from Middlesbrough into the centre of Whitby, plus regular bus services from Middlesbrough and from Scarborough to Whitby.
